In a bid to boost youth interaction between India and Pakistan, Indiagames has announced the first ever India-Pakistan PC gaming match to be held in aamchee Mumbai on September 10, 2007.
The match will see "Counter Strike" champions of the neighbouring countries match wits and gaming skills in the e-Sports event organized by Indiagames.
The five-member 'Pak' team named "Havok" will take on the might of the Indian team that wins the WCG 2007 "Counter Strike" finals to be held in Mumbai on September 9th.
'Counter Strike' is reportedly one of the most popular online tactical First Person Shooter (FPS) games, and involves players joining-in either as terrorists or counter-terrorists -- both wanting to complete their respective missions.
Speaking on the occasion, Vishal Gondal, chief executive officer of Indiagames, said, "The youth of today are getting more involved in this new phenomenon of e-Sports. We believe that sports often succeeds over Politics and Diplomacy in improving relations between countries and there is no reason why we should not go beyond Cricket and Hockey into the e-Sports arena."
Ahmed Mamoor Amimi, chief executive officer of Playdium.Net, strategic partner of World Cyber Games, Pakistan, said, "I would like to see Pakistan and India compete in this e-sports arena, and I am sure it will create more space for love and harmony between both the countries. I would also like to invite the Indian team next year for our WCG2008 National Final event in Pakistan."
